Tricare is fine for things they cover, but what about procedures they won't cover? My husband is still active duty and Tricare tells me they would cover arthroscopic hip repair for him but not for me, and that they deny the procedure based on the fact that such procedures are unproven to be effective.

Let me clarify that for you, they would perform this procedure for my husband, but not for the dependent, based on the fact that it might not help. How does it become worth it to "maybe" help him and not "maybe" help me. It isn't about driving or out of pocket, it's about being put in circumstances where you have to choose to spend a small fortune to have any quality of life, or live with extreme pain. The pay is already pathetically below private sector peers and we are faced with going into debt to pay for something Tricare won't even consider.

Hip replacement, they cover. So rather than fix an otherwise healthy young-ish woman, they would perform more invasive surgery that would require repeating in 20 years and costs much more.

They would rather remove a tooth than fix a cavity. Pathetic.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $20000.
