Fraud increases medical payments for Tricare members
As a Tricare member, you may get a phone call from someone (In my case someone from India) who says he is with Tricare and he understands that I have ankle sores He wants to put me in touch with a compounding company that can make the exact medicine combination needed to cure my sores. He connects me to a lady who seems knowledgeable about my case until I finally get from her that she actually works for the Telemed answering service.
She said that a medical person would be calling me about the compounded medicine. That same night, at 8 o'clock I received a phone call from a lady saying that they had the medicine to cure my sores. I could talk to a doctor about it but that was not really necessary. I said I would like to talk to a doctor.
After that there were no more calls. This scam is not only costly to Tricare it could also be bad medicine.
In my case I am certain that a part-time nurse in a doctor's office was paid by these fraudsters for information about my ankle sores.
